Matthew Taylor

Treasurer

I grew up in Brighton, Michigan and have worked for American Airlines for 17 years now in the pilot training center. When I was looking for a place to live, I instantly fell in love with Grapevine because it reminded me of Brighton. After getting settled into our house in 2015 I decided to invest in a kayak and get out on Grapevine Lake to explore. I started noticing the amount of trash that would accumulate on the shorelines and wondered if there was anything the city could do about trying to clean it up. Ergo, I discovered Keep Grapevine Beautiful and joined the Adopt-An-Area program.  After finding out about all the different events KGVB hosted between park clean ups, habitat restorations, and roadway cleanups, I was hooked. Environmentalism is something I am very passionate about and sign up for every volunteer event that I can, I want to make our community some place my kids can be proud to grow up in. I was elated that I was offered the opportunity to serve on the board and make even more of a difference in our community by helping steer our thoughts and ideas in a collaborative way.

After retirement, he continued his interest in physical fitness by teaching group fitness classes. He blended his fitness and environmental interests by convincing his local fitness students to join him in an Adopt-an-Area in Grapevine. He served more than 2 years leading an effort to keep litter off a section of William D. Tate Ave. Greg’s love of working with volunteers and protecting the environment made getting involved with the Keep Grapevine Beautiful board a natural fit.
